Litigation Support: AMRIN has extensive experience in forced labour, human trafficking, and child sexual exploitation and abuse cases through the Cambodia Legal Impact Hub. Archana Kotecha of the Remedy Project and AMRIN launched the Hub in 2017 as an in-person national and regional resource platform for local NGOs, survivors, and other key stakeholders working to combat human trafficking and forced labour. The Hub is driven by local actors’ needs and focuses on capacity building, legal research and reform, cross-border litigation, and other redress mechanisms, especially concerning strategies for seeking compensation for victims.
Law enforcement Training: AMRIN is working with the Remedy Project to build an e-learning platform with two courses regarding trends and legal strategies in online recruitment in forced labour cases. This platform will be available for Hub partners and other lawyers in the human trafficking field.
Financial Investigation Technique:
To date, in Cambodia, the Hub has:
Partnered with 12 local organizations and over five global law firms;
Trained over 900 individuals from civil society, police, and the private sector;
Opened over 20 investigations and cases, involving seven different jurisdictions;
Represented and assisted over 30 victims;
Recovered over 100,000 USD for two survivors of online and other child sexual abuse and exploitation;
Drafted and filed five legal briefs;
Assisted with victim impact statements and psychological assessments in the context of criminal and civil cases;
Published seven evidence-based advocacy reports; and
Drafted five case-specific legal and factual memoranda.
